HomeCharge Scheme extended to Rented Accommodation

The Department for Transport announced earlier this year that the Electric Vehicle Homecharge scheme is to be extended to those in rented accommodation, in order to accelerate the uptake of electric vehicles.

Previously the grant, which covers up to £350 of the cost of an EV charge point, was only available to home owners. However, the scheme will continue into next year with people in rented and leasehold accommodation now eligible.

This £50 million investment comes as the DfT launches a consultation on improving the charging experience for EV owners, and aiming to tackle the “range anxiety” that some potential EV owners still hold.
